Chicago shopping trip
All participants on our shopping trip to Chicago may bring one bag no larger than 18 inches by 24 inches by 12 inches. Because of limited space on our bus we ask everyone to follow this rule. Remember this trip is more to investigate the prices and fashions rather than to buy a lot of things. We recommend that you bring cash as many stores do not accept credit cards from teenagers without identification. Of course, if your parents have given you permission to use your own credit card then that is permitted.
Why couldn't Betty take all the things she wanted on the shopping trip to Chicago?
Preparation time: 30 seconds
Response time: 60 seconds

Possible answer: Betty could not take all the things she wanted on the trip to Chicago because there was not much room on the bus they were taking and it was a school project on prices and fashions, not a buying trip.

Holiday sales
Store owners for many years have noticed that people like to shop on holidays. For this reason many dates during the year have become traditional shopping days in the United States. For example, in January, after the Christmas season, stores have white sales where items for the bed and bathroom are sold at reduced prices. The period after the 4th of July is when summer clothing is placed on sale to make room for fall and winter things. Late in August stores advertise back-to-school sales where items for students are given discount prices.
Why are there holiday and season sales? When do they take place?
Preparation time: 30 seconds
Response time: 60 seconds

Possible answer: There are special holiday and season offers because store owners have noticed that people like to shop at those times. For example, in the U.S. there are back-to-school sales in August, before classes begin in September, at reduced prices; or in November, after Thanksgiving Day and before the Christmas shopping period.

According to the lecturer, why do store managers display attractive items at eye level and how can you buy at better prices?
Preparation time: 20 seconds
