Fears child debate will lack balance, new balance 574 sale
All major political parties and the majority of civil society groups are calling for a Yes in the November 10 poll, new balance 574 custom, but under the McKenna and Coughlan judgments, new balance women, broadcasters must give equal coverage to each side.
RTE bosses will meet this week to decide what approach to take in what is shaping up to be a onesided debate.
Children's Rights Alliance chief Tanya Ward said: "It is a problem that there may not be enough people on the No side to get the debate going because people need to know what the debate is about."
Former Supreme Court judge Catherine McGuinness, from Campaign for Children, also said the Yes side must guard against complacency.
"Our difficulty might be that everyone will sit back and think 'everybody is voting in favour of this so we won't bother to vote'," said Ms McGuinness.
Prominent members of the Yes to Children group, including broadcaster Olivia O'Leary and Barnardos chief Fergus Finlay, will take part in a nationwide tour in the coming weeks as part of their campaign drive.
The tour is aimed at getting the message out if there is no real debate around the referendum, meaning it will not be covered in great detail by the national media. |
