"We are there for Ashley, but she does need to be accountable for what she's done, because it's escalated over the years," he said.
Kirilow turned herself in to police Aug. 6, the same day a frontpage investigative story on her alleged crimes was published in the Star. Her parents said she had exhibited a pattern of lying and deceit since childhood.
She is facing three charges of fraud under $5,000 and one charge of fraud over $5,000.
Kirilow admitted to the Star that she shaved her head, plucked her eyelashes and starved herself to appear as a chemotherapy patient at benefit concerts held in her honour, and that she ran a bogus charity, called Change for a Cure, which volunteers say raised more than $20,000 over several months.
