Cheap Ray Bans How to Quit Drinking Soda 4902
How to Quit Drinking Soda
Roughly half of all Americans knock back at least one daily soft drink, and the average soda drinker guzzles 2.6 glasses a day, finds a new Gallup poll.
Why should you care? Regular soda is packed with high fructose corn syrup, which can double the amount of fat your body stores in your liver, on your bones, and in your blood, shows research from Denmark. (Diet isn much better. Click here to find out why.) That may explain why a separate study from the University of Miami indicates daily soda consumptioneven if you drink dietups your heart disease risk by 43 percent. She says studies have shown quitting cold turkey is a recipe for failure,Cheap Ray Bans, and advises cutting your daily soda habit in small incrementssay, 20 percent every 2 weeks. Also, replace your missing soda with water or another healthier alternative. "Substituting an alternative drink makes you two to three times more likely to resist temptation," she adds. Switch things up. Disrupting the way you normally drink soda makes you more aware of your slurpingand less likely to guzzleHalvorson says. Always have a soft drink on the right side of your desk? Switch it to your left side, or put it just out of arm's reach, to avoid mindless sipping, she advises.
Mark your calendar. It takes 66 days to either break or form new longterm habits, finds a study from University College London. It won't be easy, but if you can make it that long without a soda, you should finally be free of your worst habit, Halvorson says. My personal philosophy though is in moderation Indulgence is OK so if you enjoy cola, don drink average 2.6 glasses a day per the article. Maybe trim down to 11.5 servings a day to start, drink it as a pat on the back like you enjoy a good merlot. Track your exercise and food intake there plenty of free easy online tools. Maybe that 1 can of soda won be as appetizing afterall once you associate it with the 1mi jog needed to burn it off. Maybe it will make that ONE soda a day all the more pleasing of a treat aside from your otherwise well balanced diet of whole foods after a day of cycling or a good day of lifting. I found that as I took this approach that fruits or a flavored greek yogurt became tasty deserts.
I mentioned this in a post above Mike, but track your food intake and exercise. It quick, easy free to do on many websites, if you honest with yourself it can give you a quick easy way to see what else you might be able to do to drop weight.
Three years ago I cut soda out 45 days before my wedding without changing too much else up and I dropped 5lbs. When I did the same thing a few months back it didn do much. When I started using a diet exercise log though, I disciplined myself a bit better with portion sizes (again you have to be honest here a 1/2 cup serving of ice cream is really small when you not used to it), reduced beer, bread processed food intake, and upped my cardio activity a bit more (or lifted at a quicker pace using supoersets) since I could easily see by the logs that these were areas I could do better with I dropped 7lbs in a couple months. I actually adjusted the calorie counter to be more liberal slow the pace since my goal was is to maintain weight (or gain lean muscle mass) while improving cardiovascular fitness. So far so good
In that vein Mike, what are your goals motivations very short, short long term? Myself I don care about being or getting a 6pack, maybe you do cool. I want to drop my cholesterol below 200 without drugs (did it), improve my endurance cardiovascular fitness, get my average pace on a road ride up (and ride harder terrain), run a sprint triathalon, mudder race or something equally challenging within the next year,Ray Ban Clubmaster, be able to physically play sports at my my MENTAL age (I late 30s physically,, much younger mentally ) and in general live a healthier lifestyle so that long term when my wife and I start a family we can instill a healthy lifestyle in our kids and be able to keep up with them at all ages. Easy, no. Worth it to me, absolutely!
Not sure why so many thumbs down guess it the beer comment? For the most part, if you can balance diet, activity rest and mental focus (indulging on occasion is healthy piece of mental focus here as long as you maintain balance), you can get where you want to be. |
