flood 1 /flʌd/ ●●○ verb

COVER WITH WATER 被水淹 to cover a place with water, or to become covered with water (被)淹没
Towns and cities all over the country have been flooded.

The houses down by the river flood quite regularly.

flood 2 ●●○ noun
a very large amount of water that covers an area that is usually dry 洪水,水灾
The village was cut off by floods.

1. wake/weɪk/ (also wake up) verb (past tense woke /wəʊk/, past participle woken /ˈwəʊkən/)

Philip hung his coat on a hook behind the door.

look, appear, seem
Look is a linking verb in meanings 3 and 4. This type of verb links the subject of the sentence with an adjective or noun:
· It looks windy outside.
· You look beautiful.
· She made him look a fool.
